Time
People often speak about time as if it is stealing from them.
Time takes away youth. Time creates wrinkles. Time closes opportunities. Time reminds us that life is finite.
So people fight it.
They rush through life believing they are running against a clock. They panic when they miss an opportunity. They obsess over making the perfect first impression, convinced that one mistake will define them forever.
Now let me ask you a different question.
If your best friend arrived at your birthday party dressed terribly, would your first reaction be to judge them? Or would you ask, “What happened? Is everything okay?”
If they truly are your best friend, you would probably choose the latter. You know their character. One moment does not define who they are.
Why, then, do we treat time differently?
We judge time by isolated moments—a missed opportunity, a failed interview, a relationship that ended, or a business that didn’t work out. We assume those moments define our future.
They don’t.
As we grow up, we enter a world full of uncertainty. Most of what we know is learned from parents, teachers, friends, mentors, and society. They are all trying to make sense of life themselves. Some advice is timeless. Some is shaped by personal experience. Some is simply wrong.
The challenge is that, in the moment, we rarely know which is which.
Only time reveals the difference.
Time tests ideas. Time exposes assumptions. Time separates wisdom from opinion. Advice that once sounded convincing may later prove misguided, while lessons we resisted may eventually become the foundations of our lives.
That is why time is not your enemy, but a quiet companion walking beside you, whispering truths you may not yet be ready to hear.
But time alone is not enough.
It cannot shape a life you refuse to fully live. If you shrink from your choices, sidestep your risks, and turn away from your responsibilities, time slips through your fingers like sand, leaving nothing behind to mold or refine.
Wisdom does not arrive gently with the turning of the calendar. It is carved into you through lived moments, through reflection that stings, and through the raw, unflinching courage to face yourself in the mirror of your own truth.
Mistakes are not failures unless you choose to remain blind to their lessons. They are the rough, unpolished stones from which growth is sculpted, each one revealing not only the hidden nature of others, but the deeper, often uncomfortable truths about who you are and who you are slowly becoming.
Time does not simply pass.
It unveils.
It peels back illusions like layers of fog at dawn, strengthens what is rooted in truth, and sharpens your understanding with each breath you take and each moment you dare to live fully.
In the end, time is a sacred gift from God, a quiet revelation that shows you, with undeniable clarity, exactly what you have chosen to become.
